Subaru of America announced today that the BRZ coupe will receive a special edition for 2017. The oh-so-creatively-named Series.Yellow is said to be ” the most exciting BRZ to date with its striking color and performance upgrades” according to Subaru’s press release. Read about the enhancements, then you decide: brilliant or blah?
The Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow is more than just appearances. The yellow exterior will be the tell-tale sign that you’re viewing the special edition, and the black alloy wheels will reinforce that observation. It gets a few performance upgrades that include Brembo brakes all around with four-piston front calipers and two-piston rears and SACHS Performance shocks on the front and rear. The BOXER engine gets internal upgrades that boost power production to 205hp.
All this plus a few extras in the handling department made the Subaru engineers change the “Sport” mode to “Track” mode. (That could be a little overkill, guys.)
Inside, you’ll see yellow embroidery and contrast stitching and other yellow accents. We get it — it’s Series.Yellow.
This Subaru dress-up has its merits, but how does it stack up against cars like the Kia Stinger? You be the judge.
